Focused vs diffused thinking

Do we focus more, put more effort, exhaust ourselves to focus to our life goals? Or do we defocus to focus more? What is important between diffused thinking and focused thinking?

Stressful day, lot of work, meetings, critical decision making all are common in corporate life. A small break for tea or coffee in cafeteria or smoking outside with few friends and we feel absolutely fine. We discuss cricket or football or politics and we find solution to our same old problem. Who works on our problem? What happens when we don’t focus on the subject still get innovative ideas about the problems? Who works when we are in diffused mode of thinking and solves the problem for us?

In a close relationship, when we go through rough phases, just to divert from the suffocating situation we go out aimlessly. We go to forest, see the blue sky and get completely absorbed in the nature and then all on a sudden we realise that our life is smooth enough! We forgive and forget. We get back to friendship and love. Surprisingly everything happens when we stop focusing.

When we are in a diffused mode of thinking we go beyond the subject. We allow our brain to go through a relaxed phase of thinking. Even if we talk about hundred different things across a cup of tea, our brain devotes time and effort to resolve pending problems. We come back fresh and get new idea. Nature is another superb agent to stimulate diffused mode of thinking in our brain. When we fight with small little issues, as long as we remained focused, we remained trapped into selfishness. When we go out in the nature, we enter into diffused mode of thinking. Slowly, steadily our brain works on the relationship issues, resolves and we get back to happiness.

We need a mix of both focused and diffused mode of thinking to have success and new learning.
